Why is NanoID Replacing UUID?

Well, apparently because people don't understand what UUIDs are for, the math behind how they were carefully designed, the concept of number spaces, etc, etc, etc.

Why do you suppose that anyone can independently generate a UUID anywhere and at any time and still make the outrageous claim that it is a *universally* unique value?

NPM downloads and "popularity" don't result in security. This is the difference between engineering and web dabbling.

Muting this nonsense. Please join me in helping to keep Medium worth reading.
