This is complete nonsense. Most companies use an applicant tracking system and follow fairly rigid human resources (HR) guidelines (often federally mandated if the company is large enough) on how opportunities are advertised, how applications are taken, etc.

Sending unsolicited email is a very risky practice. Even if it doesn’t land in THEIR spam folder, it is very likely to be excluded from the HR process because it didn’t come through the channels the company set up.

If you don’t follow the company’s hiring process, you can’t reasonably blame Google.
