The idea of precision is important here but not represented.
While it seems true that "it's theoretically impossible to measure anything with complete [absolute?] accuracy", the difference between this and "clearly-defined and measurable" is for the most part insignificant outside of quantum or astrophysical scales.
In other words, modernism is pragmatic; it works where we need it to work. Postmodernism is fascinating, yet largely irrelevant navel gazing in terms of getting things done.
I'm all for science and expanding our knowledge of the universe -- large and small, but in the meantime, we've gotta get some things done. Measure twice, cut once, and let's get on with it.
