I used to travel frequently between Austin and Dallas and began taking the bus because although it costs a little more it puts something like 1/10th as much carbon into the atmosphere.
After sitting next to a straight-up homeless guy who coughed and spit his lungs into an empty Coke bottle for three hours and then being delayed in the Dallas station for five hours with no explanation only to find out later that a dangerous storm system that spawned tornados and destroyed homes in the Dallas area was the reason (we could all have died in that station), never again.
I remember looking around at people who were being literally yelled at by Greyhound employees for "offenses" like sitting on the floor when all the seats were occupied. They had no alternatives. It was awful.
