I agree that a typo shouldn't become the focus and shouldn't detract from what you're trying to share, but what some of your audience may perceive as carelessness or an inability to use language properly can reduce your credibility and the value of your message.

Rather than "shutting them up" after that damage has already occurred, a better option might be to stop giving them rocks to throw at your head.
