It's wonderful that lots of people will lose their jobs? Try to pick a side and stay on it.

Overall, the slowing down of consumerism is a good thing; I agree. But people are going to suffer in the process. To me, that's a bleak prospect.

And please don't tell me where I'm "just looking". Walmart's 37 million daily customers are global, not just in the U.S. Many of these large players are global.

Like you, I've watched the spread of unrestrained American consumerism ruin countries that I love. Signs that this may be slowing are welcome. I'm just suggesting that the scope and scale of these changes may be greatly exaggerated. Walmart and the culture that enables it aren't going anywhere soon.
