I hate him because he not only embodies and glorifies the personal characteristics I find vile, indefensible, and toxic but because he actively seeks to infect those around him with the same disease and to punish anyone who refuses to succumb.

I don't have pre-existing hatred that needs a target. My hatred for him is entirely the result of who he is and what he does. If he stopped being a vile piece of shit tomorrow, I'd stop hating him.

And to lump Clinton and Trump under the same sleazeball is intellectually lazy. Clinton did some sleazy things, but he also accomplished some laudable things during his Presidency and continues to do so to this day. When has Trump ever done anything that was not ultimately about benefitting himself?

I think what you've written is certainly true for many people, and the source of a lot of hatred is exactly as you've described it. But it's not the case for everyone.
