Here in the U.S. there's nothing "tricky" about it. The Federal government stole native American lands outright and broke every treaty they ever signed in order to do so.

Federal, state, and local governments also stole land belonging to former slaves when that land became valuable, forcing them out.

If the truth is not "well received", too f*cking bad. Words like "stolen" are accurate. Tiptoeing around them is what allows injustice to continue.
