Funny. GitHub Copilot has generated some really useful Java, SQL, and Terraform code for me, saving me hours of time.
Maybe you're doing it wrong.
Look, I completely agree that AI is not an existential threat, and without my prompts it would have generated nothing at all, but saying that it simply can't is just silly. It demonstrably and can does on a daily basis.
Copilot has also completed lines of code that I started to type with an almost eerie accuracy.
It's success rate for me has been in the high 90s, and after staggering through the smoking, apocalyptic landscape that humans have made of code over the past 30 years, this is kind of refreshing.
Yes, understanding context and evaluating what's generated is up to me, but these tools are capable in their currently narrow application and have real value.
