A few years ago, I had the opportunity to attend a data conference in Houston. One of the speakers was in his 70s and talked about his ongoing, highly paid work applying big data analytics to global shipping. He said he came up with some of his best ideas while playing with his grandkids.
Keep your mind open. Keep your skills up. There is a vast deficit in our industry of people who know how to make things work and an even bigger deficit of people who know how to make things work well.
I hear all the time that "They didn't hire me because I'm old!" Bullshit. They didn't hire you because you've never built a reactive Spring Boot application (or whatever), you prefer to eat lunch alone, and your Slack meme game is weak.
